Mosquitoes are among the worst this season with all of the rain we have seen this month. Look around your home for standing water. Mosquitoes will lay their eggs in standing water found in around your property and Mosquito control is a must here in Alabama. Removing standing water is just one way you can prevent mosquitoes from taking over and making your summer miserable. More important protect your family from these deadly disease carrying pests. Kill adults by having your yard sprayed and baited for better mosquito control.
Here in Alabama we certainly have our fair share of ants. Ants range from native fire ants to other fire ants species that have been introduced such as red and black fire ants. Let’s not forget carpenter ants. Each species is out and about foraging for food for the colony and if given an opportunity can and will make their way into your home in search of food and water. Keep things tidy and keep in mind that you are inviting pests closer to your home when you leave pet food and water bowls outside. Be proactive and have a professional pest control company spray your home inside and out to prevent an ant invasion.
Fleas live to latch onto our beloved pets, who in turn come back into your home carrying fleas with them. If your pets haven’t been treated, you can be sure fleas now exist in your home making a meal of you and members of your family. A tall tell sign that your pet has fleas is, of course, biting at the skin and constant scratching. Have your pet dipped or put a flea color on them and have a pest control company come to your home and have them perform an indoor pest control treatment for fleas.
Well, we can’t forget ticks. If your pets don’t have fleas, there is the possibility they have ticks. Ticks carry diseases such as Lyme Disease, and with the additional hours you and your pets spend in the great outdoors ticks are a real possibility. Lyme disease can be serious if left untreated. The best solution is, of course, to check yourself and your pets for ticks.
Termite swarms may be over, but that doesn’t mean that termites aren’t around your home. In the southern states, termites are active in the ground, and the colony is growing. If you see termites, you can expect to see more and more if left untreated. Termite control is imperative, and you must have an active pest control plan in place.
